Mike is an accomplished senior executive, former solicitor and master mariner, with a wealth of operations leadership credentials gained from a varied career in the maritime sector, working with companies such as BP Shipping, Glencore’s ST Shipping, Maersk Tankers, Union Maritime and now StratumFive.
With an established reputation as a subject matter expert Mike is often engaged as a conference speaker and facilitator providing commentary on industry developments and direction which adds significant value to his role as Strategy Director.
Liveryman of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners, Fellow of the Nautical Institute and Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.
Joining the Royal Navy from University, Huw Davies served in a number of roles at sea and ashore in UK, US and Europe (including Director of Operations at the Fleet Numerical Meteorological and Oceanographic Centre, UK representative to the Defence Meteorological Satellite Programme, Chairman of the Military Oceanography Council of NATO and sponsor of NATO’s environmental research programme), before joining the Senior Leadership Team at Rolls-Royce.
He has Masters degrees in Business, International Affairs, Meteorology and Oceanography and has consulted extensively on marine meteorological issues including ship/cargo loss and performance claims. He is a respected scientific and technical author published by the Nautical Institute and is a Nautical Institute representative to the International Maritime Organisation and the UK member of the World Meteorological Organisation Steering Committee on Marine Meteorology and Oceanographic services.
30+ years of providing meteorological and oceanographic services from marine and aviation forecasting to optimum ship routing and voyage reconstruction, including command of national global weather and oceanographic forecasting centres.
WMO qualified meteorological forecaster with 14 years sea experience/bridge time. Directed and coordinated strategic planning, governance and contract liaison for planning of UK Hydrographic and UK Met Office defence programmes within the Ministry of Defence budget.
Nick Bialystocki has over 15 years’ experience in shipbuilding, vessel systems and vessel operations, focusing on vessel performance, from design to efficient operation.
He has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, MSc in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture, Diploma in Marine Surveying. A member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects, Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, the DNVGL Cyprus Technical Committee. Certified DPA (Designated Person Ashore) and CSO (Company Security Officer).
Nick is also a Teaching Fellow in Haifa University, author of various vessel performance papers and publications, and regular speaker at industry conferences and events.
